About the event
Ship of Fools, is about a diverse group of passengers on a German cruise ship traveling from Mexico to Europe in 1931. The story explores themes of human frailty, prejudice, and the social and political tensions leading up to World War II through the interactions of its many characters. The novel was a major work for Porter, who had started it as a diary from her own 1931 trip.
